From its inception, Gallery ILÉ has been dedicated to championing the careers of artists whose practices are redefining contemporary African art. Scientists of sorts, engaged in the creation of memories.

Merely three years of age, and now proudly based in the historical heart of Amsterdam, Gallery ILÉ is quietly earning a reputation for introducing a roster of trailblazing contemporary African artists to worldwide audiences.

With a curatorial focus investigating the mediums of painting, sculpture and photography, The Gallery endeavors to foster, promote and develop the careers of emerging, mid-level and internationally acclaimed artists, through an enticing program of exhibitions, showcasing often for the first time in The Netherlands, a corpus of thought provoking works by mavericks like Wabi Dossou, Epaphras Toïhen, Nathanaël Vodouhè, Elon Tossou, Louis Oké-Agbo, as well as world renowned modern masters such as Dominique Zinkpè and Gérard Quenum.

Although predominantly anchored in the rich cultural lineage of Benin, as of February 2024, Gallery ILÉ will gradually expend its representation to artists from Ghana, Nigeria, Senegal, Ivory Coast and other countries leading the 'Nouvelle Vague' of contemporary art in West Africa at large and its Diaspora worldwide.
