In the photographic Series, entitled 'Agoudas' and 'Nego Fugido', the critically acclaimed photographer Nicola Lo Calzo, respectively explores the complex practices of memory transmission revolving around slavery in West African countries, including Ghana, Senegal, and the Republic of Benin, and conducts an extensive investigation of a unique performative tradition, held every July in the Quilombola community of Acupe, Brazil.

Epaphras Toïhen / The Archeology of Time
At barely 30, Epaphras Toïhen commands a body of work of impressive maturity.
As a third-generation prodigy, Epaphras was nurtured very early on by his father and grandfather, both Master Sculptors trained at the mythical Dohoundji Atelier, located in Agonli, on the edges of ‘Oro Zoun’, the sacred forest of the Zou region in Benin, West Africa.
Art is fundamentally inherent to Toïhen’s personal journey. Through his lineage, by tradition, culture, history and most importantly by his native land.
The sculptures by Epaphras Toïhen are portals to the spiritual realm of nature.
