I am incredibly honoured and overjoyed to share this insightful interview, published today Friday 23 October 2026, in the leading Dutch newspaper HET PAROOL.
A few weeks ago, I had the great privilege to talk with the Art Editor, Edo Dijksterhuis. Although I am known to be a rather private man, I felt innately at ease and safe with Edo, and before I even realised it, we were both strolling together down the yellow brick road of some of most intimate past, present and future memories.
A great journalist will do that to you. Thank you Edo for capturing my inner voice and translating it into the pages with your incomparable wit, humour and astute à propos.

This interview does not simply represent an incredible milestone for Gallery ILÉ, and a wondrous journey that keeps unfolding in myriads of unforeseen ways, it also comes in full circle.

I first met Edo 2 years ago, while he was giving a presentation during the now famed PAN PODIUM TALKS. I find it indeed quite fateful, that he has now interviewed me for my very first feature in this truly iconic newspaper, but also in the context of our inaugural participation in PAN Amsterdam, and last but not least, against the backdrop of my upcoming first appearance as a moderator at PAN PODIUM TALKS.

I don’t know about you but I live for these blissful moments of synchronicity.

Also highlighted in the interview, the interstellar IBÉJÌ sculpture entitled ‘Women of Power’ by modern master Dominique Zinkpè, which will be one of the stars of our upcoming group exhibition, THE BEACH IS IN THE FOREST, curated especially for PAN.

Mum, I’m framing this one for you.

Huge shoutout to Mark Grol and his entire dream team at PAN Amsterdam! Looking forward to create real magic together during this undoubtedly epic 39th edition.
For now happy reading :) and hope to see you at the fair.
