Gallery ILÉ was founded in April 2021 by Joyce Bidouzo.

A former Creative Consultant with a career spanning over two decades, Joyce has orchestrated business development, marketing & PR strategies across APAC, EMEA and the US, for a portfolio of highly reputed high fashion, jewellery and luxury lifestyle brands. 

Fulled by his passion for art, he spearheaded the establishment of Gallery ILÉ, which has paved the way to the most incredible journey. 

Initially conceived as an online gallery, Gallery ILÉ unveiled its first ephemeral space  in September 2022, located on the mythical Prinsengracht, before ultimately moving to its permanent home, located at Hazenstraat 28, in the heart of Jordaan's 9 Streets, a year later.

The Gallery has made an undeniable contribution to this particular location and received the warmest embraced by audiences composed of both local and international art lovers and collectors. Securing this location marked a major turning point in The Gallery’’s journey and with it, the promise of a brighter future.

Unfortunately, on December 31st 2023,  Joyce suffered a near fatal injury, which left him hospitalised for a period of 3 months. As of September 2024, Joyce has already made an impressive recovery, yet after careful consideration and despite having kept the gallery operational while undergoing no less than 9 complex surgeries and a intense physiotherapy program, he decided not to renew this lease on this particular location. 

The Gallery is for now back to its online format, yet  we are nurturing our vision every step of the way, and we are manifesting myriads of unforeseen development.
