The 'Logozopka' cloth which means 'Turtle Shell' in Fon language, was first created at the time of Dahomey's ancestral Kingdom. Initially weaved predominantly either in ash or green, the pattern finds formed through a checkerboard of horizontal and vertical lines, that bears its resemblance to the carapace of one of Benin's most emblematic creature.
