Gallery ILÉ is proud to partner with Galerie DUDOKDEGROOT, for the unveiling of THE LIVING ARCHIVES - MEMORIES BEYOND THE ATLANTIC, the first solo exhibition in Amsterdam, by critically acclaimed photographer, curator and PhD researcher, Nicola Lo Calzo.

Curated by Joyce Bidouzo, the exhibition brings forth two of Lo Calzo’s compelling photographic series entilted Agoudas and Nego Fugido.

Through an expansive exploration of memory as a living, embodied, and political act of resistance, the exhibition navigates complex geographies, shaped by the histories of the transatlantic slave trade and the overarching legacy of imperial colonialism.

The exhibition further attempts to reveal how communities of the African diaspora continue to sustain, transmit, and transform cultural knowledge through rituals, performances, and meaningful acts of remembrance.
