Between 1 and 8 november 2026, Gallery ILÉ will take part in PAN Amsterdam, the Netherlands’ premiere fair for art, antiques, and design.

To mark our inaugural participation, the gallery is presenting THE BEACH IS IN THE FOREST, an ambitious group exhibition, curated specifically for this event.

Additionally, the fair is honoring us by shining a spotlight on some of the significant masterpieces comprised within our catalog, allowing art lovers to immerse themselves into the captivating creatives practices of our artists.

One of the iconic works included in PAN's curated highlights is the mesmerising sculpture entitled ‘Gèlèdésque ! The Stiletto’ by the wondrous Wabi Dossou.

Heir to an illustrious family of sculptors, Wabi Dossou grew up in the company of a virtuoso. His late father, Amidou Dossou, received the art world’s critical acclaim in 1989, at the legendary exhibition ‘Magicians of The Earth’ which took place at Le Centre Pompidou, in Paris.

Now leading his own practice, Wabi brings new meaning to the historical tradition of Gèlèdé. Bold, beautiful yet caustic in their wit and humour, his ‘Diverted Objects’ cross-pollinate the paragons of high fashion, music, pop culture and street art, interrogating us on notions of memory preservation, capitalism, mass-consumerism and sustainability.

Works by Wabi Dossou have been heralded in high profiled exhibitions including “Africa Supernova”, honouring the preeminent collection of Carla & Pieter Schulting at Kunsthal KADE Museum in Amesfoort, The Netherlands in 2023, “Le Bénin En Majesté” at Musée Cosmopolis, in Nantes, France in 2023, and the Palais Royal of Abomey, in 2025.

In 2026, the artist was chosen to illustrate the Carnet Officiel of the Benin Embassy, in Paris France.
